Ride The Yule Tide,
‘Tis the season when we’re supposed to act nice,
but these nights are naughty and filled with our vice.
This is the season of Chanukkah, Kwanza, Winter Solstice and
that other holiday. Personally we were overwhelmed with the
holiday spirit the minute the store decorations went up on
the day after Halloween. However, New York City will
exploit any holiday for misadventures in alcoholism, and
this holiday isn’t an exception - it’s the rule.
Below are seven events to set you adrift in the Yule Tide.
All are on Saturday December 10th. Why do we send out these
notices at the last minute? Because, we love you.
Happy Holidays!
Oh, and then there’s New Years Eve…
We have booked an epic space for our New Years Eve event
(expect something wildly different). The early details will
be released later this weekend. Imagine a massive space
built into intimate nooks, imagine music of the lost and the
art of the found, imagine the New Years Eve you dream of.
This is the New Lost City.
With liqour and love and small acts of glee,
For this night you rockstar your mischief roams free…

SantaCon:
This Saturday brings the annual SantaCon, hundreds of red
suited, jack booted, jolly/fearless freaks living life as
the big-man in red. This is perhaps the most ribald, rabid
and revolutionary act of public drunkeness to be had this
week.
In anticipation of the big day/night, here are some tips:
Remember the Four Fs:
1. Don’t fuck with the cops.
2. Don’t fuck with the kids.
3. Don’t fuck with security.
4. Don’t fuck with Santa.
If you bring a flask or your trusty PineSol bottle, please be
discreet. And if you’re handing out pornaments, please don’t
hand them to the kiddies.
Bring: your ID, transit card (transit is only $1 on the
weekends!), warm and comfortable shoes, your ho-ho-holiday
spirit, song books, cameras, and cash for when Santa
needs a beer (often).
If you are not 21, you are welcome to participate in all the
street antics, but please don’t expect to partake of any
bar/club/booze fun. Sorry, not-yet-legal Santas.

and grassroots advocacy, PTTV works to challenge and expose
the corporate control of mainstream media. PTTV believes
that increasing public awareness of the influence of mass
media and involving people in the process of making media is
mandatory for our long-term goal of information equity. We
have also been known to throw a great party!

NEW ORLEANS JAM-BALAYA HOLIDAY PARTY.
The many facets of New Orleans culture are praised in this
performance. First, the sensual side of the city’s music is
explored with The Object of Desire, a funny, seductive
spoken-word/movement piece by Kathy Randels, accompanied by
Mississippi jazz trumpeter Maurice Turner. Then, OBIE
winning playwright (and former Carnival Queen) Lisa DAmour
and noted ragtime pianist Tom McDermott present a
specially-commissioned collaborative performance that
celebrates both the “high” and “low” culture of the city.
Finally, famed blues diva Marva Wright and New Orleans
jazz/soul trumpeter and bandleader Kermit Ruffins will take
turns leading a cadre of seasoned, New Orleans-based
musicians. Offering a helping hand to the arts community
affected by Hurricane Katrina, we will collect donations for
the Southern Arts Federation in an effort to help rebuild.

This week Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping
had a major accident on their tour across the USofA. A
bio-diesel bus was totaled but most everyone made it out
with only minor injuries.
One member of the tour, Rob VanAlkemade was seriously
injured and remains in the hospital. If you want to get on
Santa’s nice list, take a moment to write down some warm
thoughts to Rob and mail them to:
