These are days of revolution (or more precisely, of
running in circles). From the revolving of the conservative
guard in the Supreme Court, to the revolving shit/spin of
the Rove scandal, to the revolving war to terrorism to war
to terrorism.
The hot air is swirling and it’s hard not to choke on the
Revolver.
Like most of what happens now, these issues revolve
around a lie. The lie of Rove, the architect, the
shitblossom, the cynical maker of kings - his fall will
bring a hollow sense of victory at the bottom of this
tailspin. In response they are circling their wagons
and still sell the lie of the war, of justice, of
revenge. And now, in a dizzying spiral our streets and
tunnels shake with bombs and fear, with bag searches,
with watch-your-neighbor-watch-you, with the lie of the
war, of justice, of revenge.
We raise our fist at the inevitable. We rant, we cry, we curse the
Revolver.
In the face of all this, we still live loud and this
weekend holds hope and humanity in the face of a frail
future. The happenings below are interactive
celebrations of the strength between us. July revolves
around the heat of the night, the cool of our closeness
and the simplicity of our best moments.
This is how we turn it around. Loaded.
Revolver.

Aesthetic : Anti * Star : 25 Years of ABC No Rio
Began as an art/activist squat on New Years Day in
1980, ABC No Rio is known internationally as a venue
for oppositional culture. This Friday, Saturday and
Sunday ABC No Rio will host a series of events to
celebrate a quarter century of aesthetic anarchism.
This series of art and performance parties will raise
funds to ensure the ABC No Rio building and the
projects it houses will continue and grow. Complacent

Sedition : Critical Mass : Friday 7pm
Critical Mass is a worldwide phenomenon of unpermitted
street takeovers by bicyclists demanding a radical
shift towards sustainable living (starting with more
bikes, less cars). It is also the most fun you can
have with two wheels and a chain (and a bullhorn, a
sound system and a thousand friends.) Because the NYPD
has a vendetta against these peaceful, progressive
rides, they now meet in several locations. This is one
of the most vibrant radical institutions in the city,
and to be a part of it all you have to do is hop on
your bike and ride.
Details:
Friday, June 24, 7 p.m.
Union Square North, Washington Square Park,
Tompkins Square Park, Madison Square Park
(and several other locations, apparently)
Critical Mass is an autonomous action and is owned by
nobody (but organized by everyone.) For details on the
rides and more on sustainable bike culture see:

Decadence : Brooklyn Free Street Fair then Rubulad
The last Saturday of July looks to be gorgeous and full
of life. Below are two events to keep your spirit
afloat just before the doldrums of August. First is a
free street fair with DJ’s, art and progressive
propaganda, the second is Rubulad. In its new home,
Rubulad has rebuilt itself into one of the most
blissfully hedonistic regular events this city has ever
seen.
11am to 7pm is the Brooklyn For Free Street Fair
10pm to very late is the Rubulad Party.
Details:
Brooklyn For Free
Saturday, July 30 (rain date: Saturday, August 6)
11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Bedford Ave. & N. 7th St.,
Williamsburg, Brooklyn
The Brooklyn for Free street festival on Saturday, July
30, will celebrate the cultural, political, and
artistic freedoms of Brooklyn, with a focus on
environmental sustainability, affordable housing, DIY
art and music, street culture, and craft workshops. It
will take place at Bedford Ave. and N. 7th St. in
Williamsburg, a neighborhood that is becoming
increasingly less hospitable to the kind of grass-roots
culture that has made it the hotspot that it is. With
rents rising and massive waterfront redevelopment
planned within the next few years, local artists and
activists may soon be priced out.
Brooklyn for Free is an all-day event; over the course
of the day, local artists, crafters, and vendors will
sell their wares, and community activists will
distribute information on topics ranging from fuel
alternatives to neighborhood preservation.
DJs include; Chrome, Jason BK, VitaminDevo vs
BiancaDino, The Amazing Jordan, Miko, Gerald, Synapse.
Plus art by: Gavin Kroeber, Dam Stuhltrager Gallery,
Lint Vintage Clothing, and lots of activist
information.
After, come out to Rubulad…
Saturday, July 30th from 10pm ’till morning.
